Our Story

The story that gave birth to Royal Estate Clothing is one that starts in the midwestern region of America, more precisely in the small town of Gary, IN. This poverty-stricken community, home of the legendary king of pop Michael Jackson, and the place where he took his first steps into the music world with his band, The Jackson Five, turned out to be the perfect setting to inspire David Johnson, a young dreamer who was born and raised in this community, and who, at an early age, decided to rewrite the narrative of who he was meant to be.

David grew up in a small house with his 9 siblings, and two loving parents who instilled a great deal of courage in them, as well as a valuable set of core principles, morals, and ethics.

Despite spending his early years in a neighborhood surrounded by guns, drugs, and violence, his values always succeeded in reminding him the valuable and wise words of his mother: “Always treat people the way you want to be treated”. This powerful mantra managed to keep him out of trouble throughout his childhood, reminding him to put God ahead of everything he did, and encouraging him to focus on what he considered to be a very important goal: growing up to provide his family with financial freedom.

His dad was always by his side to remind him of the importance of integrity, as he recalls: “I remember one day he asked me to put two pieces of candy I had on the table. Then he told me to close my eyes, and when I opened them, there was only one candy. I asked him where the other one was, and he told me my brother took it when my eyes were closed. I did not believe my brother could do that, so I asked my dad why, and he told me he lied, and he was the one who took the candy. It was quite shocking to me, since he was always talking about honesty and the importance of telling the truth. But then he went ahead and explained that integrity is about being true to yourself, and telling the truth even when nobody is watching you. In other words, he was trying to prove that what he did by coming clean and admitting he took the candy was the very definition of integrity”.

It was these sorts of precious lessons that gave David a broader outlook on life, and allowed him to become the man of action who, years later, gave birth to his own fashion brand.

Royal Estate Clothing is about audacious fashion and stylish urban culture that gives a sense of belonging, and makes you feel special, like the royalty you are. About this, he commented: “I aim to inspire people to be courageous, loyal, and empower them to chase a better future, so they can be who they are meant to be and do what they are meant to do.”
